About me

what I do and who I am

Congratulations on your engagement! I hope that you’re enjoying planning your special day, and thank you for considering me as your wedding day photographer.

In the coming months, there will be lots of opportunities for me to get to know you guys as a couple, so it seems only fair for me to share a little bit about myself with you.

First, the personal:

  • I am the oldest of four children and can be a teensy bit bossy but only when I have to be.
  • I’m well traveled, domestically – I have traveled to over 42 of the 50 states and I’m trying to find a way to hit the final 8.
  • I am a “mutt”, having lived in several different places growing up. And, I have no idea “where I’m from,” but I feel like Nashville, Tennessee is “home.”
  • I have NO idea what my natural hair color is anymore.
  • I used to sing classical opera, but always wanted to be a country music star.
  • I am a Wake Forest University graduate with a BA in Psychology.
  • I’m a city girl who married a country boy and thanks to him, I can now name almost all 28 species of waterfowl.
  • We got married on Tax Day in 2006 because it wasn’t football season, or soccer season, or hunting season.
  • We have 1 black lab {Macon} who doesn’t believe that he’s a dog.
  • I love bold, graphic patterns; my CindaB luggage; Garden & Gun magazine and Nikon.

Now, the professional:

  • I ‘hung my shingle’ as a professional photographer in 2010, photographing weddings, families and children as Craven Creative Photography, LLC.
  • Towards the end of 2014, I made the decision to launch a wedding-only division of Craven Creative Photography, LLC and the Kate Pope Photography brand was born! (If you’re interested in a more in-depth explanation of why I made this change, then you can find it HERE)
  • I have invested in and prefer to work with professional-grade Nikon gear.
  • My favorite lens is my 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII, because it allows me to capture intimate moments during the wedding day without being too close!
  • I carry both equipment and liability insurance.
  • I collect (and pay) NC sales and use tax on all my packages, products and services.
  • I am a co-chapter leader of a local professional photographer’s organization (The Wedding & Portrait Society).
  • I am the 2017 President-Elect for the International Live Events Association (Raleigh/Durham Chapter).
  • I am a work-a-holic.

I am committed to providing a high-level of quality service to all my clients, and especially to my brides & grooms. It is my goal to help make your wedding day run smoothly and to be less stressful. I will work with you, your family members and vendors to ensure that your wedding day coverage is complete and well-organized. I will do all I can to walk you through planning and preparing for your engagement, bridal and wedding day photography – and, I promise to keep the process fun!

If it sounds like we’d be a good match, then let’s sit down and chat. I would love to hear all about your love story and your wedding plans, and I would be honored to be your chosen wedding photographer.

Hello, I'm Alison Rogers

Marketing Coordinator

Alison is excited to join the team to coordinate marketing for Kate Pope Photography. Alison has an extensive background in traditional, digital and social media, starting her career in newspaper advertising and working for papers in North Carolina and Nashville, Tennessee, before switching over to the agency side as a media planner and director. Along the way, she’s had the chance to dabble in coding, design, nonprofit and volunteer work, and even a stint as an advice columnist.  A few years back, Alison joined a class I taught on photography basics, and we reconnected through Instagram. Alison grew up in Greenville, North Carolina and graduated from UNC with a Journalism degree. She lives in Cary with her husband and two sons.
